Halloween is slowly creeping towards us once again. Time for haunted houses, parties and sleepovers! But what’s a good Halloween if you don’t watch a Halloween movie? In case you’re lost for ideas on what to watch I have categorized some movies that will make it easier for you to pick which movie to watch!

In case you’re not into that whole “spookiness” of movies, then…

HalloweenTown

Halloweentown is a must see movie for you! (Rated PG)

Halloweentown (1998) is a Disney channel original movie. A great movie to watch if you don’t want to be scared but still want to remain with that Halloween vibe. This movie is about a young witch on her quest to train her powers. It does have some cheesy effects, making it a spectacularly corny Halloween movie! Halloweentown is a perfect cute movie to watch with younger siblings, the family, or with your boyfriend/girlfriend! This is the first movie in the series! (The series goes: Halloweentown, Halloweentown 2 Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High and with the finale in the series Return to Halloweentown). It’s a very underrated movie and is about an hour and 20 minutes long.

If you’re looking for a classic thriller movie…

Silenceofthelambs

The Silence of the Lambs is a must see movie! (Rated R)

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) is a movie based on the book The Silence of the Lambs (1988) by Thomas Harris. This American thriller is about an FBI agent who is seeking advice on her case from a former psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer. The film won the Big Five Academy Awards (Best picture, best director, best actor, best actress and best writing). There is a sequel, Red Dragon (2002), is also based upon the writing of Thomas Harris. The Silence of the Lambs has a rating of 8.7 on IMDb and an average of 93% of the audience liking it on Rotten Tomatoes, making this movie a definite must see for thriller fans.

If you’re looking for a good gory movie…

SawThen you should watch Saw (Rated R)

WARNING: If you have a weak stomach please do not watch.

Saw (2004) is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat! This movie is about two men who try to escape after they are captured by a person who refers to him or herself as “Jigsaw”.  This movie is incredibly lifelike and makes it appear that the situation that the two men are in can easily happen to you… this only adds to the overall scary aspect. With 84% of people liking it on Rotten Tomatoes, this is a must see movie!

If you’re looking for a slasher film…

TheTexasChainSawMassacre

Then The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Rated R)

In The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) group of friends visit an old homestead, but fall victim to a family of cannibals.

Fun fact: the director tried to limit the quantity of on-screen gore in hopes of getting a PG rating, but unfortunately, the Motion Picture Association of America moved the rating up to R. With a rating of 91% on the tomato meter on Rotten Tomatoes, you can tell that this movie is definitely worth watching.

If you’re looking for a supernatural movie…

Carrie

Then you should watch Carrie (Rated R)

Carrie (2013) is coming out on October 18th 2013 with highly anticipated viewers. The film is the third adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie. The film is about Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother. She also has the gift of telekinesis.
